Claude Code for Linear: an agent on every issue

Connect Linear once. Your assigned issues land on the office board, each one gets its own Claude Code agent, and when you approve the work the PR and a summary go back to the issue.

what happens

  1. 1/4

    Issue on the board

Open Linear issues assigned to you (optionally only the teams you pick) show up on the office board.

  2. 2/4

    An agent per issue

Click an issue to hire a worker for it. It gets its own git worktree and branch, and the issue moves to In Progress.

  3. 3/4

    You approve

The agent writes a plan first. Pushes, installs and deletes wait for your OK, so nothing lands without it.

  4. 4/4

    PR and summary posted back

Mark it done and the PR is commented and linked on the issue, with a summary. The issue moves to In Review.

setup

You need

  • An Apple Silicon Mac (Windows is coming soon).
  • git, and a coding agent you have already signed in to: Claude Code, Codex, Copilot or Cursor.
  • A Linear workspace you can sign in to. The sign-in is OAuth; there is no API key to paste.
  1. Install the app. Download it and drag it to Applications.
  2. Connect Linear. Open Settings, pick Linear under Tickets from, and click Connect Linear. Linear’s consent page opens once.
  3. Pick your teams. Optional. Choose which teams reach the board and map each team to the repo it works in.
  4. Hire from the board. Click an issue, then Hire. Workers get Linear’s own tools, and Linear lookups need no approval.

faq

Does Claude Code work with Linear?

Yes. Workers run Claude Code by default, and each one gets Linear’s tools so it can read its issue and, with your OK, update it. You can run Codex, Copilot or Cursor instead.

Do I need a Linear API key?

No. Connect Linear opens Linear’s consent page once. The sign-in stays on your Mac, in ~/.agent-office, and nothing is sent to us.

Which issues show up on the board?

Open issues assigned to you. Pick teams in Settings to narrow them, and map each team to a repo so a hire starts in the right checkout.

When does it change my issues?

Only when you click. Start work moves an issue to In Progress. Mark done comments the PR, links it on the issue and moves it to In Review.
